"Got banned, but support sorted it out"
My account got banned out of nowhere while I was just sitting there with my coffee trying to log in before work. I reached out to support, and they actually got back to me fast and helped me get back in without much hassle...
"I’ve been using HelloTalk for a while..."
I’ve been using HelloTalk for a while, and what I like most is that there are people from what feels like dozens of countries on there. I can open the app at 9 in the morning or almost midnight and usually find someone to talk to or someone willing to fix a sentence or two. It doesn’t feel super formal, which makes it easier to actually practice instead of overthinking everything. Some people take a few hours or even a day to reply, but overall it’s been really helpful for finding language partners from all over.
"Navigation could be clearer"
I had a hard time finding my chats and settings, which made the whole app feel a bit confusing. Usually when basic stuff like that isn’t easy to spot, I start to assume the rest of the layout might be tricky too.

"I’ve been using HelloTalk on and off..."
I’ve been using HelloTalk on and off for a while, and I have to say the newer updates have made it feel a lot better. The app runs smoother for me now, and the chat layout is easier to figure out without getting annoyed.
There are still a few little bugs here and there, and sometimes things don’t load as cleanly as I’d like. It’s not enough to ruin the experience, but it’s noticeable once in a while.
That said, I really like the changes to corrections and voice messages, and finding people to talk with feels easier than before. Overall, I’m happy with the direction the app is going and I’ve actually started using it more again.

"The web version feels limited"
I gave hellotalk a try on my laptop and in the browser , and it feels a bit half-baked . Some messages take a while to show up , and whenever I wanted to do more than basic chatting , it kept pushing me back to the app . It is fine for sending a quick reply , but I really expected the website to be more useful .

"Moments feed is kinda annoying now"
I used to open HelloTalk mostly for the Moments feed, but it’s not as fun anymore. There’s just too many random posts, selfies, and people clearly trying to get likes instead of actually practicing languages. Some comments are rude too, or just totally off topic. I still come across a few nice people here and there, but scrolling the feed feels kinda tiring now. I really wish it was sorted better or had less junk in it.

"I was hoping to get some real language…"
I was hoping to get some real language practice out of it, but compared to other apps I’ve tried, it was a bit more frustrating. Most people either stopped replying after a day or ended up wanting to chat in English instead. A few people were genuinely nice, so it wasn’t a terrible experience, but finding someone who was actually serious about practicing felt harder than I expected. Overall, kind of disappointing

"Good chats!!! But kinda random??"
I’ve had some really good chats here, honestly!!! It’s fun to use and I do feel like I’m picking things up along the way... but the learning part can feel a bit random sometimes?? Like, one minute it’s super helpful, and the next I’m not totally sure where it’s going!!!

"Notifications are hit or miss"
Half the time I don’t get any notifications, so I keep missing chats. Frustrating, honestly—especially since that’s kind of the whole point
"Pretty good so far, honestly"
I mostly use HelloTalk to practice languages, and I’ve got to say, I do like that I can choose what shows up on my profile. I’m usually a little unsure about apps where you chat with strangers, but the block and report options are easy to find, which makes me feel better about using it. I’m definitely not a tech person, so I can’t say I know everything happening behind the scenes, but I haven’t run into any strange privacy problems so far. The messages and account settings seem secure enough, and it’s not a hassle to change things when I need to. i’m a bit surprised, but I’d give it 5 stars.

"Useful, but can be frustrating"
I mostly use HelloTalk for quick translations, and it’s hit or miss. If it’s just a short word or simple phrase, it usually does fine, but full sentences can come out sounding weird and not very natural. The correction feature can also be annoying because people will correct my text, but the app doesn’t always show the changes clearly, so I’m literally sitting there trying to figure out what I did wrong. It’s still useful for chatting with people, but for actually learning how to write proper sentences, I expected a bit more. Not terrible, just frustrating sometimes.

"Nice profile options, but a little limited"
I like that I can quickly update my bio, swap photos, and add interests when I’m in a hurry. It makes my profile feel personal enough, even if some of the layout options feel a bit limited. Overall, it still works fine for what I need.

"This dumb app can’t send messages right"
This app is a total pain to use for chatting. Half the time my messages just sit there stuck, show up way too late, or vanish like the app decided to eat them. Then I’ll get replies hours after someone actually sent them, which makes having a normal conversation basically impossible. I even tried reinstalling the stupid thing, but nothing changed. Not worth dealing with.

"Good app, but the free version feels kinda limited"
I tried HelloTalk for a few weeks, it’s not bad. I did find a few people to practice with, and some conversations were actually fun. Of course, some chats disappeared after like two messages, but I guess that’s just how people are sometimes.
The ads are what started getting on my nerves. They show up right when I’m trying to reply quickly, and it kind of kills the whole mood. I don’t know who decided that was a good idea, but they definitely made the app feel more annoying than it needs to be.
The free version also feels restricted. A lot of the useful stuff is locked behind the upgrade, so it’s obvious they’re pushing you toward paying. It’s still usable, but I blame the limits for making it feel less chill than I expected.

"Easy to actually talk with people"
I’ve been using HelloTalk mostly to practice speaking, and the calls have been better than I expected. The voice comes through clearly even on my not-so-perfect home WiFi, and video calls rarely freeze. I think I only had one call drop all week, which says enough. For a language app, it makes it effortless to just jump on a call and have a real conversation.

"Signing up was quick, and I got..."
Signing up was quick, and I got through the onboarding without any real issues. There were a lot of prompts and options right away, so yeah, it felt a little busy at first. But overall, it was simple enough to get set up

"Live rooms are fun, honestly"
I’ve joined a few live events now and ended up meeting some really nice people. The vibe is super chill overall. Some rooms can be a little quiet at first, but that kind of makes it easier to jump in and chat.

"I did have a few nice..."
I did have a few nice chats and the app is easy to jump into, which I appreciated. But most conversations felt kind of random or flirty rather than actually focused on sharing culture, so I didn’t really learn as much as I was hoping to. Still, I can see it being fun if you’re just looking to casually meet people.

"Premium Didn’t Really Feel Worth It"
I gave HelloTalk Premium a try because I figured the paid features would make the experience smoother, but after using it for a while, I didn’t feel like I was getting enough for the price. The app is fine if you just want to chat with language partners, and I did find that part useful, but a lot of the helpful features are locked behind the subscription. Even after paying, though, it didn’t feel like a big enough upgrade. For a language exchange app, the subscription cost just seems too high for what you actually get.

"Mods actually handled it fast"
I reported a creepy guy once and the mods took care of it quickly, which made me feel a lot better
